Kamal Lazraq is a Moroccan director born in 1984 in Casablanca. During his education at La Fémis in Paris, he directed several short films. His graduation film, Drari, directed in Casablanca, won the second prize of the Cinéfondation of the Festival of Cannes, as well as the Grand Prix for short films of the Belfort Entrevues Festival. In 2013, he finished his short film The Man with a Dog (Moul Lkelb), as well directed in Casablanca and produced by Barney Production.
LES MEUTES (2023) is his first feature film, for which he is the 2021 winner of the Gan Film Foundation. The film is World Premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Un Certain Regard Section. Lazraq won the Un Certain regard Jury Prize (76th Cannes International Film Festival, France, 2023).
