Bacem Anas Romdhani (باسم أنس الرمضاني, born December 3 1995 in Tunis and lives in London) emerged from Tunisia as a child prodigy in the early 20's. He is a Tunisian classical violinist rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after artists of his generation to proudly represent the Arab musical elite. 



 



Highlights of his career include being the first Arab classical artist to be in the semi-final of the Queen's 'Windsor Festival International String Competition 2021' (UK), winning 3rd prize at the 'Vienna New Year's Concert International Music Competition 2021' and winning 1st prize at the 'Vatelot-Rampal International Violin Competition 2007' (Paris) before turning 12. He made his debut performance at the Wigmore Hall (London) in 2014. 



 



Aged nine, Bacem Anas was invited by the Tunisian Symphony Orchestra to make his solo debut. Aged ten, He won the 'World Philharmonic Orchestra Competition' in Paris and represented Tunisia, Africa & the Arab world as part of the 'Five children of the world'. His early musical journey is chronicled in his multi-award winning documentary 'Once Upon Our Time 2010'. 



 



Bacem Anas' early success came to the attention of the president of the Tunisian Republic, where he received an Honorary award in 2007. In 2014, Bacem Anas became the first Tunisian classical artist to be appointed by the Tunisian Symphony Orchestra as their 'Solo Artist in Residence'.



 



Coming from an Arab background, Bacem Anas is dedicating his music making to introduce his background music to the Western culture, in an attempt to help bond the arts from both worlds. In 2020, renowned Tunisian classical composer Ouanés Khligène composed a work "Le Voyageur et La Rose" (violin & piano) specially for Bacem Anas Romdhani, and a violin concerto in the making, to be premiered in 2023.



 



Future projects include a debut Album release under the distribution of Ulysses Arts records. Two singles were released early 2021 and are now available to stream on all digital platforms. Three new singles and music videos will be released in the beginning of 2022. Bacem Anas has performed widely in Europe, highlights include the Österreichische Nationalbibiliothek for Tunisia's 'National Dialogue Quartet' Nobel Peace prize ceremony in Vienna, the Menuhin & Tibor Varga Festivals, the Muziekgebouw in Holland and the Tunisian Embassy in London. He performed on all the major concert venues in Tunisia, to name a few Municipal Theatre of Tunis, Carthage Amphitheater, Acropolium of Carthage, Municipal Theatre of Sousse, El Jem Amphitheater. 



 



Bacem Anas Romdhani was born in Tunis (Tunisia) and started his violin studies at the age of five with professor Rachid Koubaa at his father's music school. He studied at the Conservatoire Zyriab de Musique et de Danse, Mégrine until the age of 11 where he won a full scholarship from The Yehudi Menuhin School and settled in the U.K. Bacem Anas completed his undergraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He did his graduate degree at the Royal College of Music and currently finishing his Artist Diploma alongside a second study in conducting.



 



Bacem Anas Romdhani plays on a very fine contemporary violin made by Andreas Hellinge, Geneva (1998) made specially for Lord Yehudi Menuhin.

Personal Life
Bacem Anas was born in Tunis, Tunisia to Meriem Ben Hamada, an owner of a kindergarten business and Abderraouf Romdhani, founder and artistic director of Conservatoire Zyriab for Music & Dance, one of the top leading private music schools in the country. His father is one of the longest serving principal Trombones of the Tunisian symphony orchestra and former music professor.
 
Long before Bacem Anas was born, his father had a vision to guide his son to become one of the best classical violinist and musician Tunisia has ever seen. His mum made sure to put headphones regularly on her tummy, with different CD's being played featuring music by Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi.
Bacem Anas began playing the violin at the age of five, at his father's music school. Simultaneously, he joined the swimming club 'Ben Arous' at the Olympic swimming pool of Radés and was placed in national tournaments where he won a few. Bacem Anas' first teacher was Rachid Koubaa, former concert-master of the Tunisian symphony orchestra. His second teacher was Sem Slimane, also former concert-master of the Tunisian symphony orchestra.

In 2007 Bacem Anas moved to the U.K aged eleven and is currently resident in London, United Kingdom. He has three sisters, Ons Wafa Romdhani born in 2002, Azza Romdhani born in 2006 and Nahawend Romdhani born in 2009. The Romdhani family also have a Jack Russell dog named Mozart Romdhani.
