Avie Luthra has directed a number of award winning short films over the last ten years. He also works as a writer and won BBC's Dennis Potter Award in 2001 and Channel 4's Northern Soul Award in 2000.

Avie graduated from the NFTS Fiction Direction course in 2001, and joined the Project Development Labs Advanced Programme at the School, during which time he developed the script for his award winning film Lucky, released in 2005.

His writing credits have included an episode for the high profile BBC series, The Canterbury Tales (2003) and a BBC film, Indian Dream (2003).

In 2004 Avie Luthra was listed as a'Star of Tomorrow' by Screen International magazine and has recently directed films for Granada and the BBC. He has also just completed a feature film screenplay based on his Radio 4 play, A- (2004).

Avie graduated from the Director's Course at the National Film and Television School, UK. In 2002 he won the BBC's Dennis Potter Award for new writing. He was listed in Screen International's ‘Stars of Tomorrow' 2004. In 2006 he was nominated for a BAFTA for his short film ‘LUCKY', which was also short-listed for an Oscar in 2007. In 2009 he completed his first feature film and in 2011, he completed his second. He is also a practicing Forensic Psychiatrist.

Avie Luthra, di origini indiane, è nato a Rochdale, Inghilterra. Nel 2002 si diploma in Regia alla National Film and Television School, in Gran Bretagna. Nel 2003 scrive un episodio della serie tv CANTERBURY TALES, e un film per la tv, INDIAN DREAM. Nel 2005 realizza il cortometraggio LUCKY, presentato in concorso al GFF 2006 (sezione "Liberi di Volare/Free to Fly") e candidato ai premi BAFTA 2006. Nel 2009 dirige il suo primo lungometraggio, MAD, SAD AND BAD. Il suo secondo lungometraggio da regista, LUCKY, si basa sul suo cortometraggio omonimo. Avie Luthra è anche uno psichiatra forense.
