In 2008 SaltPeter Productions CC was born, a company designed to focus on innovative /challenging/ reactive documentaries in an African context.

SaltPeter Productions has won substantial funding from the South African Broadcasting Corporation to produce a feature length documentary entitled Forerunners (2011, 55 min). Focusing on members of South Africa's emerging black middle class, the film entered production in April 2010.
The company is also currently producing an investigative documentary, Conviction, about a philanthropic group of ex-convicts who must navigate the challenges of a new life outside prison.

Over the past 12 months the company has produced a wide range of content including: Caring for Mothers, a documentary highlighting the pandemic of maternal mental health issues in South Africa's townships and Reboot, a 26 minute film outlining the effect of the global credit crunch on 6 diverse South Africans. In addition, SaltPeter Productions is responsible for Branded, a look at marketing strategies in the South African context, as well as Together from the Beginning, a documentary which deals with the importance of building connections between parents and infants.
