The Canadian-based Research Network "Slavery, Memory, Citizenship", the European network of EURESCL: Slave Trade, Slavery, Abolition and their Legacies in European Histories and Identities (7th PCRD), and the CIRESC "Centre International de Recherches sur les Esclavages, Acteurs, Systèmes, Representations" are pleased to announce their third annual international research video festival and welcomes submissions that address the realities of slavery in its past and contemporary forms.

The theme for Festival 2010-2011 is Culture, Diaspora, and Citizenship.
It will be held in memory of the victims of the January 2010 earthquake in Port au Prince.
Therefore, of particular interest are submissions that focus on Haiti,
even if proposed films are old productions. Proposals for films dealing with locations other than Haiti are also welcome as long as they address this year's theme.

The third edition of the festival will begin in May 2010 and will travel
to locations that include:
- Paris (May 2010)
-Mexique, Mexico City (May 2010)
-Veracruz, Mérida, Chetumal
- Dakar (June 2010)
- Abidjan, Cotonou, Lomé, Ngaoundéré
- Port au Prince
- Havanna, Santiago de Cuba
- Ouagadougou
- Rio de Janeiro (November 2010)
- Quebec/Toronto (February 2011)
Other sites will be added in the future

Researchers are invited to submit their films to the international
selection committee. Submitted material can be produced in English,
French, Portuguese or Spanish. All films should be available with
subtitles in one of the two official languages of the festival, French or
English. Productions must be less than 90 minutes long and on DVD. Films may address any geographical location but the festival's theme and framework must be strictly followed.

Along with all submissions, researchers and directors must enclose a
written document that includes the following:
- Name and institutional affiliation of the director or directors
- Synopsis of the film-
- A clear statement of the transfer of rights for broadcasting in the
Festival

All material should be sent to the CELAT, which will operate as the
administrative centre of the Festival. A selection committee made up of members from the three sponsoring networks is solely responsible for acceptance decisions.
All submissions must be postmarked no later than March 21th, 2010.

Las redes canadiense para la Investigación sobre "Esclavitud, Memoria, Ciudadanía" (Canadian Research Network of "Slavery, Memory, Citizenship"), europea EURESCL 7mo PCRD: Tráfico de esclavos, esclavitud, abolición y sus herencias en las identidades e historias europeas (Slave Trade, Slavery, Abolitions and their legacies in European Histories and Identities) y el Centro internacional de investigación sobre la esclavitud: actores, sistemas y representaciones (CIRESC, Centre international de recherches sur les esclavages: acteurs, systèmes, représentations), anuncian el lanzamiento de la tercera edición del festival multisituado de videos de investigación sobre las esclavitudes, sus herencias y sus resurgencias contemporáneas.

La edición 2010-2011 del festival tendrá como tema específico Diásporas, Culturas y Ciudadanías. Luego de los acontecimientos ocurridos en Haití en enero del 2010, el festival se celebrará en memoria de las víctimas del terremoto. Los organizadores del festival apreciarán recibir propuestas de películas sobre Haití, mismo si no son producciones nuevas.

Las proyecciones de las películas seleccionadas se realizarán en las
siguientes ciudades:
- París (mayo 2010)
-México DF (mayo 2010)
-Veracruz, Mérida, Chetumal
- Dakar (junio 2010)
- Abidjan, Cotonou, Lomé, Ngaoundéré
- La Habana, Santiago de Cuba
- Puerto Príncipe, Haití

Otras ciudades que lo desean pueden ser también sede del festival.

Los investigadores están invitados a enviar sus producciones videos al comité internacional de selección. Las películas y documentos anexos pueden estar producidos en inglés, francés, portugués o español. No obstante, todos los trabajos deberán contener subtítulos en uno de los dos idiomas oficiales del festival: inglés o francés. Las producciones deberán tener una duración inferior a 90 minutos y ser enviadas en DVD. Las propuestas pueden provenir de cualquier lugar geográfico, sólo el tema y el marco del festival deben ser estrictamente respetados.

Junto a las películas propuestas, los investigadores y directores deberán incluir un documento acompañando su producción y especificando por escrito lo siguiente:
- Nombre y afiliación institucional del director o directores;
- Sinopsis del video en cualquiera de los dos idiomas oficiales (francés o inglés)
- Declaración de la donación de los derechos de difusión en el marco del festival


El comité de selección estará formado por miembros de las tres redes y harán la selección final. Cada sitio organizará una proyección de las películas seleccionadas.

La fecha límite para recibir propuestas: 21 de marzo de 2010. El sello
postal será la prueba de la fecha de recepción.
