LALIBOI | RAP, HIP-HOP | SOUTH AFRICA

LaliBoi (meaning 'rural boy') also known as Siphosenkosi Nkodlwane is a South African lyricist; guitarist and trumpeter that fused his rural Xhosa roots with streetwise township flavour to create one of the most exciting South African Hip-hop releases of recent years, called Siyangaphi. This album is a colourfully expresses all the things that make South African contemporary music so exciting right now, authentic cultural richness and relevance while keeping an eye on innovation and the future. A highly skilled and technical MC, LaliBoi's bouncy raps launch you into the full beauty of the Xhosa language.

His track Somandla extracted from his album Siyangaphi, is inspired by ancient Xhosa chants that were sung by diviners and Shamans of old. The story line is based on a prayer to Somandla (God of virility and power). In this video clip, LaliBoi is calling upon his Ancestors to guide and protect him not only on his music journey but also to bless him with a affluent life. The music video is a metaphor of a narration based on the relationship between LaliBoi and his grandfather and the bond between the two. How LaliBoi as a grown man handles the task of having to continue his grandfather's family legacy after his passing. We see LaliBoi migrating from the rural areas to pursue a music career in the city of Johannesburg with big dreams and faith on Somandla. See
