The film follows Brahim, an Algerian mechanic living in France who dreams to travel to the U.S. with his son. While trying to obtain a French passport, he gets in trouble with the police and has to hide in the Algerian community of Paris. There he begins an identity quest that will lead him to Algeria.

Brahim is an Algerian mechanic born in France. He dreams of bringing his son Yann to the United States. But Yann would prefer to go to Algeria, the country of his roots. However, the French administration will end up leading them on another kind of journey altogether.
