NANKOROLA offers a glimpse of how the inhabitants of one African village began to reduce the gulf between the developed and the undeveloped world. The film traces the course of the village's transition to literacy, a process everyone participated in. A nurse brings medicine and health care; a school is opened to provide instruction to people of all ages; a newly trained villager supervises the weighing of the cotton harvest.
NANKOROLA is a statement about optimism, self-help, and of co-operation to achieve goals of mutual interest.

In the original Bambara language, with English subtitles.
