Mboro has been a hub for extractive industries since the 1950s, and the chemical industries of Senegal ICS were granted a concession there in 1957. At first, people were happy to be able to make a living working in chemical plants. Over the decades, these same populations have faced health problems, which add to the land-based difficulties.
