By introducing his son to the city of Saint-Louis in Senegal through a letter, the author wants to educate his eyes so that he can discern the colonial residues (monuments, figures...) from the roots that should truly define him.

Tënk's opinion
The director wants to take on the statue of Faidherbe, who was governor of Senegal - a thorn in the side of the beautiful Saint-Louis and the entire country, revealing the colonial snake that still holds independence in its grip.
This political film is a fight against the places of memory that celebrate domination. Aided by a commentary as sharp as a miraculous weapon, the director seeks to decentralize History, questions its rewriting, confronts the "elusive metaphysics" that runs through objects, and wants to lift language out of its limits, to grasp the whole of reality, with all its pretences.
