SIX FILMS, THREE DAYS, THREE LOCATIONS, ONE EVENT
African Metropolis - a compilation of six short films from six African cities – will be screened for the first time in Nairobi. The short films shot in Abidjan, Cairo, Dakar, Johannesburg, Lagos and Nairobi focus on the forming and transforming of urban African cultures. The project points the way towards a new African cinema, far removed from the cliché of rural Africa.
On Friday, 18th July 2014 the Goethe-Institut Nairobi will exhibit the short films during the day and screen an evening premiere of Homecoming, the Nairobian short film by Jim Chuchu in the evening. The director and actors will be present to intruduce their work and answer questions from the audience.
Saturday's performance will be staged in six different rooms at The NEST, representing the six cities – in addition a discussion about the shorts and film in general will be hold.
African Metropolis at PAWA 254's rooftop will take place on Sunday completing the whole event with supporting happening happenings like live graffiti, spoken word performances, music performances and a visual urban photography exhibition.
