Born in 1967.

De origen camerunés, Pascale Obolo vive en París. Trabaja en varios videoclips musicales del mundo para Virgen France (Music). También dirige vídeos experimentales y en 1998, su primer documental, Xuluv Bët the creator. Al mismo tiempo, descubre Trinidad, esa isla que le recuerda África a través de su carnaval. Atraída por la herencia cultural e histórica de la isla, vuelve a ir varias veces y es en su último viaje, en agosto de 2002, cuando un viejo pescador le da ganas de contar, a la manera de un griot, la historia de esos viejos "calipseros", de contribuir a la transmisión de esta música que lleva en ella la herencia del Caribe.
